The Challenge
The client operates three dental clinics across the same metro area. Despite strong clinical outcomes and a solid offline reputation, their digital presence was failing to convert local search intent into appointment bookings. Competitors with fewer dentists and shorter trading histories were consistently outranking all three locations.
- All 3 clinics outside the local 3-pack for 'dentist near me' and city-specific dental searches
- 140+ NAP (Name, Address, Phone) inconsistencies across local directories causing conflicting trust signals
- Only 38 Google reviews total across all locations, against competitor averages of 180+
- Google Business Profiles incomplete: no services listed, no Q&A content, no appointment booking link
- Zero localised landing pages, all traffic sent to the generic homepage
- No review generation process in place; staff had never been trained to ask for reviews
Our Solution
Phase 1: GBP Optimisation & NAP Cleanup (Weeks 1–2)
We prioritised fixing the foundation, Google Business Profiles and citation consistency, before building new signals on top of a broken base.
Google Business Profile Full Overhaul
Rebuilt all 3 GBP listings from scratch. Added complete service menus (32 services per location), wrote keyword-rich business descriptions targeting location + service combinations, added 40+ geo-tagged practice photos per location, enabled online booking integration, and activated the Q&A section with 15 seed questions and answers per location.
NAP Inconsistency Audit & Fix
Audited 85 directories and found 140 NAP inconsistencies across the three locations, different phone number formats, old addresses, and variations in the practice name. Corrected all 140 inconsistencies using a systematic directory-by-directory cleanup over 2 weeks.
Citation Building
Built 60 new consistent citations per location across healthcare-specific directories (NHS Choices, Dentist Finder, Dental Guide UK) and general local directories. Focused on high-authority healthcare platforms that Google uses as trust signals for medical local pack rankings.
Phase 2: Review Generation & Localised Content (Weeks 3–8)
With the GBP foundation set, we built the review volume and localised landing page content needed to overtake competitors in the 3-pack.
Review Generation System
Trained front desk staff at all three locations on a post-appointment review request process. Implemented an automated SMS sequence sending a review request 2 hours after each appointment. In 8 weeks, the practice went from 38 total reviews to 190, with an average rating of 4.9 across all platforms.
Localised Landing Pages
Created dedicated location pages for each clinic targeting neighbourhood + service keyword combinations (e.g. 'Invisalign [Area Name]', 'emergency dentist [City]'). Each page included unique content, embedded Google Maps, local schema markup, and links to the relevant GBP listing.
Local Link Building
Secured mentions and links from local business associations, neighbourhood blogs, and health information sites in each clinic's catchment area. Local backlinks are one of the strongest signals for competitive local pack rankings.
Phase 3: Tracking & Continuous Optimisation (Months 3–4)
Once rankings moved into the local pack, we built a tracking and optimisation rhythm to maintain #1 positions and grow inquiry volume.
Call Tracking & Attribution
Implemented local call tracking numbers per clinic so that GBP-originated calls could be attributed separately from other sources. This allowed us to demonstrate the direct ROI of local SEO in terms of booked appointments per month.
GBP Post Publishing
Established a weekly GBP post publishing schedule across all three locations covering offers, seasonal dental advice, and team features. Consistent posting frequency correlates with higher local pack ranking stability.
Results & Impact
All three clinics achieved #1 position in Google Maps for their primary location + dentist keyword combinations within 4 months.
